North Adelaide Residence
This modest yet striking contemporary residence is designed to fit with and enhance the streetscape and environment. The architecture displays a melding of forms; pitched roofs and flat roofs, with strong fascia lines juxtaposed with a strong vertical element. Extensive use of glass is the negative element that glues the strong forms together into an architecturally sculptured whole.
Upon entering, this residence provides an enticing journey that draws the visitor forward through volumes, levels and spaces. This journey is interrupted occasionally by unexpected and tantalising glimpses of side elements exhibiting bold, contemporary design utilising quality materials and finishes. The spaces are large, unlimited yet inviting. The internal spaces co-ordinate with the foreshortened immediate views while moving forward in a culmination of long distance views, framed firstly by the structure of the architecture and finally by the Cathedral spires.
